Is the critic invited or just another member of the audience? Do they attend all shows in the area? Do they write about all they see? Can they remain quiet about some shows vs. others? What if they miss a ticketed show and it is really poor quality - for instance in Chennai's December festival... Does that slip through the cracks? Do critics write only about artistes who have reached a particular stature in their careers?

What makes a professional critic? Who pays them to write?

Please help educate me...
