Talam transition

Namaste, Could someone pl. educate me on the rules of talam transition?

Specifically, if there is a Rupakam tala Kriti that is the main number, could it be preceeded by an Adi tala teermanam / Nandi Sol? Would it spoil the aesthetics or not be in adherence to grammar? I know there are items using different talams and different nadais all in the same dance.. but my question is around using just two different time cycles... would the classic rasika who likes adherence to tradition view this attempt as a bandaged item with two distinct halves? I know it is best to stick to the same talam if we want the item to come together as a whole but just wanted to get this group's thoughts on the matter..

If you know of any Old classic choreography that has set an example with two time cyles, pl. point me to it.. somewhat similar to the mostly Hindolam tillana with a Mohanam charanam sung by Smt. MLV (not sure of the original composer...)your help and well meaning comments are very much appreciated.
