As a musician in the dance field with performing experience in
India and America with may lead dancers for so many years, I would like
to express my opinion to this discussion. There is no doubt that we have
great talents in field of Dance in India and America. I have been singing
for dancers in America for the past 18 years. At present many of those
kids are professionals in other filed, but they are still in good shape
to dance. But the opportunity for them to perform is very less.
I would like to name a few dancers who are really good and I am sure
that any Guru or dancer will accept these talents, if they get an opportunity
to visualize their performance.
Among dance teachers, Radha Ganesan (Maryland) a student of Mahalingam
Pillai is a good dancer and performer.
Shilpa Sethuraman (Daughter of Madhusri Sethuraman) is one of the promising
dancers we can be proud of.
Anita Sivaraman (Maryland) has lot of potentials.
Neena Ananda Prasad (Disciple of Padmini Vasan, LA) really good if
opportunities comes she can shine a lot. But now is college with limited
time to practice, but still finds time.
Mythili Prakash daughter student of Viji Prakash is a promising dancer
from America. To my knowledge most of the dancers and Gurus have accepted
her caliber. If any one in India has not seen this talent, please watch
her in the Chidambaram Natyanjali.
From the same school, there is another girl namely Sai Patel, who can
do so well if opportunities reach her. Also Anjali Tata, who has taken
dance as profession is very promising.
I know that there are a lot of kids equally talented like the ones
I have mentioned. These are some of the kids whom I have been seeing on
stage for years.
I am sure that America is going to produce more and more talents and
what ever it is, Bharathanatyam is an Indian dance and the talents should
be recognized.
