Dear readers:
Thank you for the response to my candid observations on the recently
concluded season. I am standing by all that I said inspite of being warned
that I will not be considered for any more awards for having named names
and stated what I had in the article. My opinion is only one in an ocean
of responses. There is too much political correctness going around and
far too much sycophancy to really help dance. However, I am far too unimportant
in the larger scheme of things to every stop anyone from becoming the star
that he or she is going to or already is. One dancer's opinion is not to
"settle scores with" others nor is it to USE NARTHAKI.COM for my own voice.
In the last 6 years I have not written often enough and watched several
distorted opinions featured on the site. I have let it pass since it is
important to include a certain body of opinion about dance which binds
us all to this site. Nobody will object to my article since most people
are afraid and frankly, just covering their territory. But that dance scene
in India has become corrupt and bloated is something nobody disagrees with.
and so.. should the CHALTA HAI attitude be allowed to pass.. maybe
it will since lone voices will not make a difference.. we will have to
be assaulted with vague terms like " a leading dancer" or " a leading critic"
and nonsense like that..
what to do.. we are like this only..
thank you for your responses.. all those who wrote.. maybe your own
critical voices can be cleared up a bit..
