i agree with many points that mr arul francis has said. what i
am saying is not about dark or fair.. you can just see that dancers like
priyadarshini, urmila and valli are not as "fair" as i am and are the rage
all over the world. It is NOT colour. It is the IMAGE. Classical dance
has the male gaze embedded into its very fabric. the costume, the movements
and the themes. It satisfies but does not provoke to thought. I am making
a point of the themes and the persona of the strong woman who does not
need to be an activist/feminist but another example of the myriad faces
of Indian women.
