Koodiyattam drama Naganandam had never been staged since 1957. A V Narayanan helped to revive it in 2001 at Trissur in Kerala and has also made a documentary on it. The mediaeval King Sri Harsha wrote this 7th century drama, based on a Buddhist legend. Meaning 'Joy of the Serpents', it recounts how Prince Jimutavahana gave up his own body to stop the sacrifice of serpents to Garuda. |
