SECOND LUMBINI
DANCE COMPETITION RESULTS

At
the Second Lumbini Dance Competition convened by Professor V. Subramaniam
and Jaya Subramaniam that took place on Sunday, November 25, 2001,
at Carleton University, Ottawa, the following dancers participated and
gave an excellent performance in front of six distinguished judges and
a large discerning audience. All of them received a certificate in
appreciation of the participation and commendable performance from Dr.
Somesh Bhargava and Srimati Anju Bhargava, chief guests for the event.

Sureka Radhakrishnan's disciple, Yasintha Vivekanandarajah of Toronto,
could not take part.
were adjudged winners and awarded a cash prize of $500 each. The prize also included an invitation to perform in Bonn, Germany in the summer of 2003. The Judges were, Padmabhushan Kamala (New York), Fred Traguth (Bonn, Germany), Mekhala Devi Natavar (Duke Univ., North Carolina), Professor T.S.Rukmani (Concordia, Montreal), Lakshmi Ranganathan (Queens Univ., Kingston, Ontario) and Richard Tremblay, (Montreal). This competition
was part of a three day event Conference on Performing Arts, State and
Society, November 23-25, 2001, held at Carleton University, Ottawa.
