 Apparao Galleries launches new clubs Film Club: June 23, 2012 Epic and History Club: June 28, 2012 Textile Club: June 29, 2012 Chennai APPARAO GALLERIES are very excited to launch three new clubs to create a platform for lovers of art and culture, film enthusiasts and textile collectors. We are launching the following clubs in June 2012: FILM CLUB:  The Film Club will gather once a month at Apparao Galleries. We will focus on screening films that you will neither find in the big theatres nor buy on the street. It will be movies about art and artists from all over the world; independent films, old and new classics and the like. This will be more than just a film club, we are aiming for it to be platform for film enthusiasts and film lovers to gather, discuss, educate themselves and be exposed to the wonder that is cinema. The first film will be "Nainsukh" which will be screened on the 23rd of June 2012 at 6pm. “Nainsukh” was a miniature artist, and this film is a recreation of his paintings on film. It has been directed by Amit Dutta with the consultation of the renowned artist and specialist Dr. B. N. Goswami. It was made for the Rietberg museum in Zurich for the exhibit, ‘The Way of the Masters’ which was touted as one of the best art events of 2011.  EPIC AND HISTORY CLUB:  This club has been conceived with an aim to offer its members different perspectives of myths, legends, epics and history. Speaks who have agreed to talk in the coming months are – Gurcharan Das, Ashok Banker, Papu Venagopal Rao. Dr. Chithra Madhavan will inaugurate the club with her talk on “Raja Raja Chola” on 28th June 2012 at 6.00PM  TEXTILE CLUB:  Come join our yarn club as we weave together our passion and love for textiles. Our aim is to bring together textile loves, collectors, designers and anyone with an interest and love for textiles to come together to explore collections and talk to people who make a difference in textile industries around the world. Our first speaker is Jean-Francois Lesage who will talk to the group on Friday 29th June 2012 at 3.00PM  There will be no charge for membership. All clubs will meet once a month. Apparao Galleries (Chennai) will be the venue for all meetings. We will organize the first six speakers for all clubs after which we will act as a catalyst to help members bring in speakers and initiate ideas. Our desire is to provide a platform for passion, ideas & opportunities of different interest group related to culture.
