On Saturday 26th May 2012 at 7pm
At the Experimental Theatre, NCPA, Mumbai

Dancing Tales…Panchatantra brings alive some of the most well-known tales from Panchatantra.

The production showcases the morals, values and humour of the parables of the Panchatantra in a dance theatre format, where through parable and allegory, the production talks about friendship, bravery, quick wittedness, foolishness, leadership and freedom.

In this lyric free production laced with humour and wit, the conventional and the contemporary meet and disperse in kaleidoscopic designs combined with a rich movement vocabulary and imagery.

Press reviews
Selecting danceable tales illustrating "friendship, courage and quick wittedness, foolishness, vile and guile, leadership and freedom", Ananda under her institution Shankarananda Kalakshetra has produced a clean winner - peppy, and full of humour. What must have been kinetically challenging, through a blend of movements, conventional and original, exuding the mixed flavours of Kathakali, Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi has evolved a dance collage, where ensemble scenes are most convincing in aesthetic terms and in creating typical characters.

Ananda Shankar Jayant said it with finesse. And no words were necessary. The enchanting movements of dance did all the talking. Story telling has never been better. . Everyone sat charmed.

The gait, character and mood of each animal is skillfully portrayed without compromising classical technique, and grammar.
